We "recycle" our cars every 3 years or so.... m

We kept a car 5 years once, but no more than that... we just don't want to deal with problems and DH is not mechanically inclined... I drive a 2005 Pilot and he drives a 2005 PT Cruiser.

I swear that I am the only person anywhere that drives an older car. So, how old (or new) is your car? Just curious.

BTW- my car is a 1998.

          2000 Mini Van here too.....

It has less than 70,000 miles on it & I can't afford to replace it right now.

A 2000 Chevy Venture with 115,000 miles for me, and DH has a 2004 Buick Rendezvous. I have already been told that I am driving my van into the ground before I get a new car...LOL! Which is fine by me, because I looooove my van.

We have a 2000 Civic and a 2006 Sequoia, BUT...

when we bought our Sequoia last June, we were replacing a 1995 Honda Passport (that we bought new back in '95). I'll be driving the Sequoia for a loooong time! It was really hard to decide to have a car payment again, so just try to think about that part of having a new car.

We just got rid of our 1998 Grandmamobile.

I would have kept it longer to avoid having to pay for a car, but we just couldn't see sinking anymore money into it and it was detrimental to DH's career. We bought a 2003, which feels plenty 'new' to us.

                      I drive a 98 van, DH a 94 Buick, and my 69 Cutlass. m

I joke (only half-heartedly) that I want to be buried in my Cutlass. It suffered hail damage about 11 years ago and DH is (s-l-o-w-l-y) restoring it. It still runs great!

That is funny! Maybe that's part of my problem- I drive an "old ladies car"- it's a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville.

1991 and 1998. Both having problems right now and they're parked, so we may be bussing places. Sigh.

Me: 2004 Odyssey with 56,000 miles on it. I expect to put *at least* another 50,000 on it, preferably more like 100,000.

DH: 1999 Chrysler Sebring Convertible with 85,000 miles on it. Other than the top going down, it's a heinous waste of steel. DH puts about 25,000 miles a year on his cars. If he gets another 2 years out of this car, I'll be impressed. We've put more into that car in the past year than I did to my last three cars combined. Absolute *last* domestic car I ever buy.

Both paid off. I get tempted when I see the gas-sipping Civics and Prius scooting around town (for DH), but I sure don't miss the car payments. As for me? I'm happy until it falls apart from underneath me.

My poor DH. It *kills* him that we have a '98 F150

but we also have a 2005 Cadillac STS. He's a vehicle fiend. To him our truck is so desperately old and he is constantly looking at newer ones. We don't drive it much, save it mostly for very snowy days when a 4x4 is handy, use it to pull the quads and of course it comes in handy to take things to the dump. So we have no *need* to have a newer truck, but he hates owning an 'old' vehicle - this is the oldest he's ever owned. Of course, we've owned it since brand new and it's well taken care of - you'd never guess it was 'so old', lol!

He wants to buy a 2006 Challenger (or is it the Charger??) or Camaro when they come out (in addition to the 2 vehicles we already own). I told him he can't have a new truck AND a new sports car, at least not until I get something in the house (ie: hardwood floors!). That's my deal with him - when he gets something new for the 'garage', the next large purchase has to be inside the house!

So you don't own the oldest vehicle in the world.
