I should add that our 2001 is our *only* car
We live close enough to our work and in a town wtih good enough public transportation that I take the bus into work, DH uses the car to drop DD at preschool, then I take the car (its a bus ride from my office) to get her after preschool, and DH either walks home or takes the bus home. Or we go get him if we're out and about.
Someday we may end with with a minivan or other 7 passenger vehicle as a 2nd car, but not in the next year or two, and we may have to get rid of the Subaru (Legacy Wagon) when that happens.

Right now they are both fairly new
our 95 Cherokee died 1 1/2 yrs ago with 175,000 miles on it and it was replaced with 1995 Saturn Relay minivan. This past summer our 1992 Sable dies and was replaced with a 2006 Dodge Charger. So while we have two new vehicles now we drive them until they die so ask again in 6 years and we will still have the same ones!! Oh and one car payment.

This is the first time in my life that
I've had a car from the same decade I'm in! We have a 2000 Windstar we bought used. Personally, I'm very anti-new car. I think it's ridiculous to pay so much money for a car that loses significant value the minute you drive away. In the past we've always driven cars that were 10-15 years old. In the late 1990s, DH and I both drove OLD deisel Mercedes (his was an '82 and mine was an '87). Those things were like tanks and never broke down, but you could hear them coming a mile away! I don't think everyone has to drive an old car, but I think everyone should buy a car that is at least a year or two used to get major discounts!

I swear that I am the only person anywhere that drives an older car. So, how old (or new) is your car? Just curious.
BTW- my car is a 1998.

We have a 1994 Suburban and a 2003 Honda Pilot. We only have a car payment on the Pilot though and it will be paid off next June and neither one of us plans on buying another vehicle until we HAVE to and hopefully that will be a couple of years down the road.
Drive them into the ground is our motto!

We have a 2004 and a 2003 (dd m)
Our neighbor owns an exotic/used car dealership, but also will take in nice SUV's, so I bought my last car from him. I used to buy brand new, keep them for a few years, but the last few cars we have bought are about one year old (let someone else pay the depreciation). Luckily, we have no car payments, and we tend to turnover cars every few years so we don't lose a bunch of money on them and turn them in for another 1-2 year old vehicle. Dh's Denali sucks gas as it is a V8, I really like my car, which is a used Lexus GX 470, but I long for a BMW 7 series, maybe when I don't have to cart dd around with horse poop on her boots

2001 Honda Odyssey..
with a new transmisiion. It is paid off and I plan to drive it into the ground. It will take awhile as I have less than 60,000 miles on her. I love my van. Plus, it will give me time to save for my next car an Audi A8 Quattro.

one is 2001, one is 2004
we consider these to be on the new end because we've had cars for as long as 12 years old! But we're starting to want later models because the annoyance of having a car in the shop or worrying about it breaking down with 3 kids is too stressful. We'll probably replace the '01 with something new next year.
