OK, my husband & I need to discuss things & decide what's best, & then we'll give your office a call. I've already called & requested a copy of my records. In either case, in-person or not, would a copy of my medical file that I bring along be acceptable?

Thank you again for taking the time to answer all my questions.

      Hi Elaina,

I like to review all pertinent records BEFORE a consultation. You will be told this if you do indeed end up calling my office to schedule a consultation.

      All my best, always,

        need advice/2nd update

        Hi Dr. Roseff,

We got some surprising news yesterday. After thinking this cycle (following my failed IVF) was taking a bit longer to get back to normal, I found out the real reason.. I'm pregnant. First numbers came in good, so it's a waiting game to see how it goes this week.

In the meantime, I am thinking about my TSH level which was 4.6 in May, 4.2 in June. I will ask tomorrow to have them rechecked w/ the regular bloodwork. I have scheduled an appointment w/ a regular endo that I found on the AACE site, but that isn't until Aug. I called my OBGYN to get his take on it & was told clearly by the nurse that an OBGYN does NOT diagnose or treat thyroid problems. She said they will only monitor my levels & that I needed a family physician to treat that. OK! So, I'm not sure what my RE will say again this time or what my levels will even be, but I'm feeling a bit anxious.

Obviously, after all my RPLs (even though it's due to age/ovarian reserve) I want to do everything I possibly can to have a healthy pg. Thoughts?

        Thanks in advance.

I would have wanted your TSH to be normal before getting pregnant, but let's take what we can now that you are pregnant -- Find someone qualified to adjust your thyroid ASAP, as it's important for staying pregnant and also having a healthy pregnancy and baby.

          I wish you success!!!

Thanks Dr. Roseff! I will get it done asap. Thanks for emphasizing that.

Are you surprised my reg. OBGYN didn't want to deal w/ it? Do I need a high-risk pg doc? Is there such a thing?

I'm not at all surprised your regular OB doesn't want to deal with it. High risk pregnancy doctors are called Perinatologists or Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists. My personal bias is for patients to ALL see their OB and ALSO see a Perinatologist along with their regular OB.

              Good luck, and CONGRATS!
