  • can I say how disappointed I was with the personal trainer???

Well, the girl seemed great - like she'd be fabulous to work out with. It was kind of a fitness assessment, but just sort of her having me do different stuff to see what my ability was. She kept repeating that I was fit and strong and flexible compared to most of their clients -- so she wasn't really selling me on the need for a trainer! But, I was willing to sign up because i know I can push myself and figured she could help me.

BUT..... when it was all over she shows me the prices.

IT STARTS AT $2,150!!!!! Then goes up to $6,000+

And I have to commit to 3 or 2 days a week minimum. I was in shock. No payment plan either, all up front.

It was totally not what I had in mind. I'm looking for one day a week, then I"ll repeat those exercises at the gym on my own 2 times during the week. Plus the cost! It works out to $79 a session, which I'd be willing to pay if I could just pay for like 5 or 10 at a time and spread them out to once a week. But also, it's not even an hour. It's $79 for 45 minutes.

For that kind of money, I could buy myself and my dh decent, entry-level road bikes, and we could probably get a stationary bike for the basement!

Ouch! I had a trainer for 6 1-hr long sessions and it was $180 ($30/session). I had heard that was actually a pretty decent price, but we live ina smaller town, so the clientelle is smaller which is why I figure I got such a "deal". But it's still not something I could justify for too long - but she did work me harder than I woudl've worked myself.

Sounds like you would do well with

a workout buddy. Someone for whom you could do what you're needing them to do for you.

I agree - price seems crazy.

          wow. That is rediculous.

I had a trainer for a little while - maybe 2 months - 1x a week for 30 minutes ($25 a session). I had him design a few 30 minute strength training workouts for me and then made sure I knew how to do all the exercises. It was great. But I wouldn't commit to anything longer then that!
