  • 'Liberals Voice Concerns About Obama'

This is the glaring headline on my Yahoo page.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/200...politico/16292

I admit I haven't paid too much attention to politics since the election other than the heavily headlined items.

Any Dems here concerned about the choices Obama seems to be making before his inauguration?

Not sure if I should be somewhat relieved over his recent decisions or concerned as well. These decisions seem to portray the Obama I saw during the campaign, the Obama that seemed to be always looking for another perspective before taking a firm stance on something. Even his flow of speech seemed to go in circles sometimes. Now it seems the firm stances he made during the election are shifting.

Don't get me wrong - I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt. I just think McCain got some flack during the campaign because the circumstances of the US in that moment were dire and he was trying to work through his ideals to match the current state of the country. He was labeled erratic and accused of shifting his positions during the economic crisis. On the other hand, Obama held firm through the campaign, never specifying what hard choices he'd have to make once in office. A smart move looking back, but now everyone's concerned he's shifting his position on many campaign talking points, points that got him elected in the first place.

if any liberal or progressive voted for Obama under the assumption that he was going to walk some party line -- wasn't listening to him. His vision and campaign was more complex than some pat dogma, right or left or center.

The reason he was labelled erratic because he did things like
        - claim he was immediately suspending his campaign and going to DC to address the economic crisis. Cancelling his appearance on Letterman to rush to DC. Then he proceeded to do interviews with Katie Couric, stay in NYC the next day to attend a benefit.
        - Claimed he wasn't going to the first Presidential debate until the crisis in Congress was solved, but then he went anyways.
        - Claimed the economy was strong one day, then called for the firing of the head of the SEC the next day. The following day he called for his resignation.
        - In the debates his mannerisms were quite odd, wandering around the stage, making light and fun of women's health
        - Claimed Obama's experience for many years in the Illinois State Legislature and his years as a US Senator left his resume too thin and then picked nobody Palin as his running mate and touted her experience as a PTA member.
        - Put out ads that Obama was dark and scary one day, then tells people Obama is a good decent man and will make a good President.

I could go on and on but I don't see Obama in any way acting erractic in the same manner as McCain did.
