I can't believe they've managed to stick around for this long. It baffles me. They look super comfy and warm...but still...
If you're considering buying some, try some cheap knockoffs first to make sure you don't feel like a cave woman or Paris Hilton when you wear them in public. lol
that my sister gave me for Xmas a year or two ago. In the winter, I couldn't live without them!! I have poor circulation and am freezing ALL the time, especially my hands and feet. I often wear double socks and shoes and still can't stay warm. The UGGS are definitely warmer than any other shoe I have. In fact, I'm wearing them right now!
My SIL swears they are super-comfy and she has problem feet. She made me want a pair. However I've heard that if you are a person that needs good arch support to run away from them because they are very flat and will hurt your feet. Coupled with the almost $300 price-tag (for the high-ones) I easily convinced myself that my feet were plenty warm in my Columbia's.
I gave in and got a pair of knock-offs. But ones that use real shearling instead of the fashion ones that use fake fleece. OMG, wearing them without socks, my feet are in heaven! The shearling keeps them warm, dry, and comfortable, even in serious cold.
I think they're pretty much here to stay on one form or another.
But you don't need the "Ugg" logo. Bearpaws or Emus are just as warm and comfortable without the oppressive price.
I wanted to get DS a pair of Uggs for wrestling (warm shoes that are easy to take on and off are key!) but really can't afford them this year. It's good to know the best knock-off brands... keep 'em coming!
the post also got me to googling - just saw adult and kid sized BearPaw on overstock.com cheap. I might get a pair.
I got dd's at Famous Footwear last January. I took them outside and sprayed them till saturated with a can of waterproofing when I got them home -- so much that they turned a dark color and I was worried I ruined them! But it faded back to normal once it dried overnight. Not sure if it was necessary to do that, but I did notice hers never got that white line from salt that I saw on other kids' boots.
My high schooler has the clogs and the moccs/slippers. She has had both pair for three years now, and they look brand new. I say that are high quality. I want the little crocheted black ones that I can slip on my feet. I have Columbia boots that I wore last week, and I felt like I had concrete blocks on my feet! They are too confining. They are super comfy and I do like to wear DD's they are super comfy and you literally don't have to wear socks with them, but that feels kind of yucky to me.
My opinion is that they are no where near as nice as the real Uggs. I think EMUs are closer in quality, we've found the bearpaws very heavy and clunky.
I live in Uggs all fall, winter, spring, slippers in the house, boots out. I have a couple pairs that have leather feet that are the ones I wear most often, I add a pair (or two) each year and they hold up very well. I have a suede pair in the closet that I have never worn. I do think they are here to stay, and usually buy during the spring clearances for the next year, Dillards is good about marking some down and then when the additional 30-40% sales hit they are a deal.
I got these in black last year, always get compliments
They are warm for winter. Just don't let her be ridiculous and wear them with bare legs. If it's cold enough for shearling boots, it's cold enough for pants.
they are here to stay. Just seem like so much $ for a pair of boots. Are
the knock-offs so much different?

I have had mine for 3 years and love love love them. Super comfy and warm. This is the 2nd year my DD (11) is wearing her classic tall ones...I bought them a little big last year and was psyched they still fit this year. I think the trend is here to stay. For yourself, the $ is worth it, for kids, depends on whether you can get >1 season out of them. Also depends on the age of your kids and whether they are suffering the fashion-based peer pressure yet.
As an aside, I find it hilarious that the other shoe trend (around here at least) is Sperry Topsider shoes that look like the "Docksiders" I used to wear back in the 80s...DD's are a light tan, mine used to be dark brown, but very very similar.
I've had mine for over ten years, and it's only this year that I notice the shearling is not quite as warm. I love them. Can't say anything about knock-offs, but I've been very happy with the quality of my Uggs. Wore them all day actually!
My crazy sister bought these today. I think she's taking them back, becauase I gently told her that they might get dirty in Chicago slushy winters...She can totally pull this look off, me? Not so much.....
